Wynchcote Joomla! Blog
Thank you Simply Business!
We recently took the time to respond to a Simply Business survey.
This is not something we would normally do but we were intrigued by the questions.
Why? The questions prompted our MD, Ken Edwards, to revisit why he had set the business ball rolling in the first place, and what actually is Wynchcote Websites trying to achieve. Important questions!
You can read out responses below.
Why did you start running your business?
I was a secondary school teacher developing interactive online teaching and learning resources for my students using traditional HTML.
I recognised there were limits to what could be achieved using only HTML and so enquired of a few web design agencies to find out what they would charge for creating dynamic versions of what I had created.
I could not believe the prices being quoted but I also could not see myself learning PHP and MySQL either and so DIY seemed out of the question!
Until that is I discovered content management systems and Joomla!
Joomla! changed my life. Through it I saw an opportunity to pursue my dream of one day running my own business.
I established Wynchcote Websites (www.wynchcote.co.uk) to help others who are in the same positon that I was in.
Before, I loved teaching children. Now I love helping my customers make the most of their dynamic websites!
What’s the most memorable moment you’ve had so far as a business owner?
There are many but here is one.
Before Wynchcote Websites came onto the scene, Warrington Town FC Supporters Club (www.wiremad.co.uk) were using a traditional HTML website and totally dependent upon one person - the website administrator - for running their website.
Now they are using a Joomla! dynamic website and every member has the opportunity to directly contribute to the website.
Some members even take responsibility for their own part of the website. For example, several members, including the First Team Coach and sixth form student fans, submit match reports and run blogs within the website.
The website's traffic has increased and its size is growing. It is relevant because it reflects what its members want to see!
There is still a website administrator, but they are not having to do everything!
Why is this a memorable moment? Because the website built by Wynchcote Websites on the Joomla! platform is bringing members of a community group closer together, from across the world but also from just a few streets away!
What’s next for you or your business?
Times are not easy for anyone but Wynchcote Websites is responding by helping more and more people and organisations to take control of their websites and at the same time reduce their web design and web hosting costs.
How? By converting their old websites to shiny new dynamic Joomla! websites, and more important, putting website owners in charge of their own web destiny!
What's next for Wynchcote Websites? We aim to grow and prosper with our customers through the building of relationships based on collaboration, flexibility, shared purpose and trust.
