Getting Started with Joomla! 1.5 

If this is your first Joomla! website then you will be impatient to get started.

It is useful however to familiarise yourself with you new surroundings before you begin adding and editing website content.

A word of caution!

Resist the urge to create new Articles, Menu Links and even Menus until you have learned how to edit content in an existing Article.

First things first: login Front End and have a go at changing the content in an existing Article.

Next, familiarise yourself with the Article Manager in the Control Panel (Back End).

Which Article should you choose to practise editing content?

• If you have requested Wynchcote to customise a Joomla! website for you then choose any Article we have created for you.
• If your website is one of our 'off the shelf' pre-configured Joomla! websites then we recommend that you choose the Home Page Article to practise adding and editing content.

Front End: Login and select the Notepad Icon

The simplest way to quickly get a feel for changing your website's content is to login the Front End (see how by choosing the relevant link here on the right).

Then select the Notepad button (shown here) which appears at the top of every Article within your website after logging into the Front End.

Back End: Login and select the Article Manager

If you want to edit the content of an Article through your website's Control Panel, then login to the Back End and select the Article Manager, followed by sellecting the Article you want to edit.
