DIY Extension Installation

If you are on a limited budget and time is not of the essence, we would encourage the adoption of a DIY approach.

Before you install and use any third party Joomla! extensions you should undertake the following checks.

Have you undertaken a full backup of your website?

You should always do this before installing a third party Joomla! extension. If your website later malfunctions you can then restore your backed up version of your website.

More about backing up in our Hosting Plan Guide.

Have you checked the Joomla! Vulnerable Extensions List?

Always check that the extension is not on this list.

Are you regularly checking for the latest release of used extensions?

Ensure you periodically check for new releases. You may otherwise leave your website vulnerable to hacker attack.

Check the Joomla! Vulnerable Extensions List.

Do you intend to use the extension on a commercial website?

If you intend to use an extension with a commercial website then you are advised to first check with the developer that there are no restrictions relating to use.
