Joomla! 1.5 Quick Guide

Our Joomla! 1.5 Guide is quite comprehensive, but just as with any other web application or computer software, you do not need to read the whole guide to be able to get started.

Our Quick Guide should suffice in the first instance.

If and when the need arises you can refer to our complete Joomla! 1.5 User Guide and Knowledge Base.

You can also contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

How to use this Quick Guide

We offer two lists as reference points below: a KNOW list and a DO list.

Both offer identical links. Choose whichever list is easiest for you.

This is what we think most users will want to KNOW at the outset:

  1. How is my website content organised?
  2. How do I login and out to be able to change (add or edit) website content?
    Read our Getting Started guide.
  3. How do I open an existing Article and change its content?
    Read our Content Editor guide.
  4. How do I create new Articles?
  5. How do I enable visitors to see my new Articles and their content through the creation of Menu Links?
  6. How do I create new Menus as I increase the size of my website?
    Read our Manage Content guide.
  7. How do I enable Articles to appear in the left and right sidebars, as well as the 'main body' of my website?
    Read our Newsflash Management guide.

This is what we think most users will want to be able to DO at the outset:

  1. login and access an Article's Content Editor control panel;
    Read our Getting Started guide.
  2. add and edit content within the Articles that already exist in their pre-configured Wynchcote Website;
    Read our Content Editor guide.
  3. create new Articles and organise them within their website's content structure of Sections and Categories;
  4. manage what visitors see when they select existing Menu Links within their website;
  5. create new Menus and Menu Links to new Articles so as to offer a more enriching experience to their website's visitors.
    Read our Manage Content guide.
  6. create Articles to appear in the Left and Right sidebars so as to offer a more enriching experience to their website's visitors.
    Read our Newsflash Management guide.

Read our Joomla! 1.5 User Guide to find out in more detail what else you can do with a Joomla! website.
