Content Editor

Use this guide to find out more about how to use the excellent optional JCE Content Editor.

WYSIWYG - What You See Is What You Get!

The default  content editor provided when you first install a Joomla! website is not very useful.

There is however a much more powerful Joomla! extension which has been developed by Ryan Demner called the JCE Content Editor.

It is the JCE Content Editor to which this illustrated guide refers.

Wynchcote can install and configure this excellent extension on your behalf if required. We can also provide training in its effective use.

Edit Buttons

There is a plethora of buttons which you may use to edit content - this is good and bad!

Fear not, each button has an ALT tag telling you what it does.

Hover over the button and you will see what it does.

The developer of the JCE Content Editor has also produced a useful glossary.

Note: some of the button images have changed in the latest JCE 2.0 series. The images are however very similar and have ALT tags to guide the user.

When a new glossary is available we will bring it to your attention.

Compare the JCE Content Editor with the Default Joomla! Content Editor

The JCE Content Editor has to be separately installed and configured - it is not supplied with the default Joomla! Contwent Management System which underpins your Wynchcote Website.

We firmly believe that you should upgrade however as it offers loads more features, and makes upload, insertion and editing of images a breeze!

Compare the image of the JCE Content Editor Panel below with the Default Content Editor (ssee image below the JCE Content Editor).

You will see the JCE puts loads more options (and control) at your fingertips!
