Checks to make before installing Joomla! extensions

Before you install and use any third party Joomla! extensions we recommend that you undertake the following checks.

Undertake a full backup of your website

You should always do this before installing a third party Joomla! extension. If your website later malfunctions you can then restore your backed up version of your website.

Always check that the extension is not on this list.

Regularly check for the latest release of extensions you use

Ensure you periodically check for new releases. You may otherwise leave your website vulnerable to hacker attack.

Check the developer has not imposed any restrictions on use

If you intend to use an extension with a commercial website then you are advised to first check with the developer that there are no restrictions relating to use.
